A probate is the court proceeding wherein the deceased’s property is distributed according to the terms of his or her last will and testament, or according to law if there was no will.
Typically, in New Jersey, there is a probate lawyer who helps with the court proceeding who charges for the probate of an estate. Our probate lawyers’ hourly rates are based on the difficulty of the task at hand, our experience and the results that we obtain.
It’s important to have an experienced New Jersey probate lawyer. They will be more efficient in the proceeding because they don’t have to reinvent the wheel and ultimately, you may end up spending less in attorneys fees while getting a more efficient resolution of the probate. While our hourly rates might be a little higher than a new attorney, we’re certainly going to accomplish things much more quickly. Plus, in our case, we have terrific paralegals who have been working in estate planning and estate administration for a long period of time, whose time we usually don’t even charge for.
We’ve been satisfying clients at Morris, Downing & Sherred for over 120 years. We try to be fair with all our clients and, especially in the estate scenario, we realize that this is an extremely stressful time in people’s lives and we see it as our role to take on as much of that stress as we can. A person who has suffered the tremendous loss of a loved one has enough to worry about and shouldn’t have to worry about administering an estate on top of it.
