Two brothers in New Jersey were injured in a hit-and-run accident that occurred on Nov. 14. The incident happened around 9:50 p.m. in North Bergen. Investigators say a vehicle drove onto the curb, drove into the two pedestrians and fled the scene. The vehicle was described as missing the passenger-side mirror and having heavy damage in that area.
At the time of the report, investigators were still analyzing the vehicle fragments that were left behind as well as surveillance footage in an attempt to identify the perpetrator’s vehicle. A 20-year-old male and an 11-year-old male were the victims in the crash; both brothers were brought to the hospital in critical condition. The younger boy was impaled on a fence and brought to Jersey City Medical Center before he was transferred to Hackensack Medical Center for a surgical procedure.
The older victim was also brought to Jersey City Medical Center, where he underwent brain surgery and an operation to reattach his leg. At the time of the crash, the two had been walking home with their sister after seeing a movie. The 15-year-old sister told reporters she was barely able to escape being struck from the vehicle as well.
