New Jersey parents need to be aware of yet another recall of a defective product designed for infants. The recall covers around 34,000 cradle swings manufactured by Fisher-Price.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission stated that the recall is necessary because there have been reports of the cradle portion falling from the swinging assembly. Fortunately, no reports of injuries have yet been received. The Fisher-Price Cradle-N-Swing is designed to rock side to side. Its base is held in place using a peg. Reports have indicated that the peg has come loose, causing the cradle to fall to the ground.
The recall was issued by Fisher-Price voluntarily. The recall affects the Soothing Savannah, the Sweet Surroundings and the Sweet Surroundings Butterfly Friends Cradle-N-Swing models. While it is very fortunate that no injuries have yet occurred with this particular product defect, many serious injuries and fatalities happen every year to both children and adults who are using products exactly as the products are intended to be used. When accidents happen because of a defect in the product, the injured victims may have the basis for filing products liability lawsuits in order to receive compensation for the losses that have been incurred.
