A three-car accident in New Jersey killed one person and injured two others on the morning of July 14. The fatal crash took place in Toms River along Whitesville Road near Medjay Lane, according to a report from the Toms River Police Department.
Police said that the crash resulted from a head-on collision, though details of the car accident were not immediately reported. All three of the victims were the drivers, and none of them were driving with any passengers in their vehicles. One driver died as a result of the accident, one driver sustained serious injuries and one driver had minor injuries. It is unclear who was at fault for the accident or whether police have filed criminal charges against anyone who was involved.
Following the crash, Whitesville Road was shut down partway. A Nixle alert told drivers to expect the roadway to be closed until late morning or possibly into the afternoon. As traffic near the crash scene was detoured, a traffic jam developed along Route 9. Drivers that were traveling northbound that day were advised to find other routes in order to avoid lengthy travel times.
A person who is involved in a multi-car accident usually experiences some financial damages such as unexpected medical expenses and car repairs. A car accident victim may claim reimbursement for these damages in a personal injury lawsuit that they file against the at-fault driver. If the at-fault driver is deceased, the injured party is still entitled to file a personal injury lawsuit against the driver’s estate.
