The 9/11 Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) has several different deadlines that claimants should be aware of.
The deadline for registration with the VCF is July 29, 2021. This means that individuals who believe they may be eligible for compensation from the VCF must register their claim with the VCF by this date in order to preserve their right to file a claim at a later date. However, individuals who were diagnosed with a 9/11-related condition after July 29, 2019, have two years from the date of their diagnosis to register with the VCF.
The deadline for filing a claim for compensation with the VCF depends on the individual’s circumstances. Generally, claims must be filed within two years of the date of the individual’s diagnosis of a 9/11-related condition or within two years of the date on which the individual should have known that their condition was related to the 9/11 attacks. However, there are some exceptions to this deadline, and the VCF encourages individuals to contact them to discuss their specific situation.
Finally, the VCF has an expiration date of October 1, 2090. This means that all claims for compensation from the VCF must be filed by this date in order to be eligible for consideration.
It’s important to note that these deadlines may change, and individuals should check the VCF website or contact the VCF for the most up-to-date information.
