DUI check zones scheduled for Mount Laurel

Posted Apr 28, 2014

On behalf of Morris, Downing & Sherred, LLP posted in Car Accidents on Monday, April 28, 2014.

A responsible driver doesn’t drink and drive. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is a crime in all 50 states. If the impaired person is involved in car accidents, that person may be required to compensate any victims injured by the impaired person’s negligence.

Police in the township of Mount Laurel have decided to set up a series of DUI checkpoints beginning on April 15 and running through May 15. The Mount Laurel Police Department said that it takes drinking and driving violations very seriously. The checkpoints, which are spread out across several roadways, will require motorists to slow down or even stop. Authorities said the checkpoints will be highly visible.

A drunk driver is a danger on the roads. If a negligent driver is involved in an accident, any injured victims may be entitled to compensation. Cities in New Jersey are looking for new ways to stop negligent behavior on the roads. A distracted driver can cause a significant accident that leads to lengthy hospital stays, high medical bills and possible long-term injuries. A car accident can change a person’s life. It’s important to be familiar with the applicable New Jersey law and how it will impact compensation.

The Mount Laurel Police Department is demonstrating its commitment to putting a stop to drinking and driving. Drivers owe a duty to those around them to not put these others in danger. Negligent behavior can lead to car accidents. If drivers act in a negligent way that leads to an injury, they may be liable for damages. The victim may be able to get compensation for any financial burdens that come up as a result of the accident.
