Keeping up with another high-profile divorce

Posted Dec 13, 2013

On behalf of Morris, Downing & Sherred, LLP posted in Divorce on Thursday, December 26, 2013.

The end of a marriage is always a sad event for New Jersey couples who assumed their marriage would last forever. Certainly no one foresees divorce on their wedding day. Still, for many couples it becomes a reality. Celebrities especially seem to have a tendency towards shorter marriages.

Another member of the famous reality TV Kardashian family, Khloe, has recently filed for divorce from her husband of four years, basketball player Lamar Odom. Khloe is the latest in a line of Kardashians who have seen their marriages end. According to various media reports, her husband may be battling drug addiction. Over this past summer, reports also indicated that they began to live separately. Season 9 of Keeping up with the Kardashians will have highlights of the dissolution of their marriage. The divorce legal documents list irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and apparently Khloe is not asking for spousal support.

Couples who are going through a divorce know how complicated and emotional it can be. While celebrities live out their issues in front of the camera, other people experience theirs in front of family and friends. Issues such as alimony, property division, child support and child custody can lead to many disagreements amidst all the upheaval. A legal professional skilled in family law can help negotiate legal complexities and work out a fair agreement for both parties. Through the typical six phases of divorce a spouse needs support and answers to the many questions that usually arise. Even though divorce is common in today’s world, a person going through such an event will rarely find it easy.

New Jersey residents going through a divorce know how difficult and emotional the process can be. Celebrity divorce is common, but high-profile couples’ issues only underscore how common divorce disputes can be. Knowing how the divorce legal process and phases work can be helpful in making sure all needs are covered.
