Police have reported that a fatal car accident occurred in Morris County, New Jersey, on Saturday, April 18. The head-on collision happened in Washington Township and caused the death of a local New Jersey man.
The man who was killed was driving a 1961 Chevrolet Corvette on West Mill Road in the 300 block on Saturday. A 2013 Lexus was driving on the same road in the opposite direction. At approximately 5:28 p.m., local police say the Lexus veered into the Corvette’s lane and collided head-on with it.
The individual driving the Corvette was a 68-year-old man from Long Valley, New Jersey, and the individual driving the Lexus was a 69-year-old woman. Investigators from the Washington Township Traffic Bureau and the Morris County Sheriff’s Department are still unsure why the Lexus veered into the Corvette’s lane in the first place.
At the scene of the accident, police attempted to resuscitate the man from the Corvette, but they were unsuccessful. The woman driving the Lexus was unharmed in the car accident. She refused medical aid.
Fatal auto accidents like this one in Morris County occur without notice and cause much pain and suffering for the family members of the deceased. An experienced attorney may be able to help surviving family members answer any legal questions at hand. If a crash reconstruction and medical reports show that drunk driving or general negligent driving were involved, a lawyer might also be able to help family members file a wrongful death claim. With this, it may be possible to recuperate damages and compensation for the pain and suffering of their loss.
